Online Metronome

BeatTemple's metronome runs from 20 to 400 BPM with rock-solid timing. Set any time signature — 4/4, 7/8, 11/16 — or build custom asymmetric meters with drag-and-drop beat groupings. Practice ramp mode automatically accelerates from a percentage of your target tempo up to full speed, bar by bar.

Chromatic Guitar Tuner

Tune any guitar or bass directly in your browser using your microphone. Supports 6, 7, 8, and 9-string guitars plus 4, 5, and 6-string bass. Includes standard and alternate tunings — Drop D, Drop A, Open G, DADGAD, and more — plus fully custom tunings for any instrument.

Tap Tempo & BPM

Tap along to any song to instantly calculate its BPM. BeatTemple averages up to 8 taps for accuracy and lets you apply the detected tempo directly to the metronome with one click. The T key triggers tap while the metronome panel is active.

Beat Detection

The Listen feature captures your computer's audio output and detects tempo and meter in real time using onset energy analysis. Useful for matching a metronome to backing tracks or recordings. Detected BPM and meter can be applied to the metronome instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an online metronome and how do I use it?
An online metronome produces a steady click at a chosen tempo to help musicians practice in time. Set your BPM with the slider, choose a time signature, then click Start (or press Space). BeatTemple supports 20–400 BPM with compound meters, custom time signatures, and visual beat indicators.
How do I tune a 7-string or 8-string guitar online?
Open the Tuner tab, select Guitar, then choose 7-String or 8-String from the string count row. BeatTemple includes standard, drop, and alternate tunings for extended range guitars. Click any string tile to hear a reference pitch, or enable the microphone to detect pitch in real time.
What alternate guitar tunings are supported?
BeatTemple includes Drop D, Drop C, Drop B, Open D, Open G, Open E, Open A, DADGAD, half-step down, full-step down, and Eb Drop Db for 6-string, plus Drop A, Drop G# and more for 7 and 8-string. Bass tunings include BEAD, Drop A, and standard 5 and 6-string.
What is practice ramp mode?
Practice ramp mode is a technique where you start a difficult passage at a slower tempo and incrementally increase speed over time. Enable it on the metronome tab, set your start percentage, increment size, and bars per stage — BeatTemple will automatically step up the tempo for you.
Can I use custom time signatures?
Yes. Click Custom… in the time signature row. Enter any numerator from 1–32, choose a note value denominator, and the beat groupings are suggested automatically based on music theory. You can drag groupings to reorder them, click values to edit them inline, and add or remove groups freely.
Does BeatTemple work on mobile?
Yes. BeatTemple is fully responsive and works on iPhone, Android, tablets, and desktop browsers. The metronome and tuner use the Web Audio API which is supported on all modern browsers. No download or installation is required.
